THIS WEEKS ASSIGNMENT
I. Choose a Nursery Rhyme -->http://www.zelo.com/family/nursery/
II. Create the powerpoint cartoon using the Rhyme
III. USE THE GUIDELINES LISTED:

Readable fonts (being consistent throughout the entire slide show makes for a better looking assignment)
Font sizes that can be read from the back of the room
One slide for each line of the rhyme
Use appropriate backgrounds that fit with the story and subject of the rhyme (you may have to create your backgrounds instead of using the pre-made apply designs)
Use appropriate graphics that fit with the story and subject of the rhyme (you may have to create and draw your own graphics instead of using the pre-made clip-art)
Animate a graphic (moving of a graphic – not just a custom animation)
Animate some text (custom animation is fine)
Use slide transitions between slides where appropriate
Use sound (from the Microsoft Office Program – pre-installed sounds)
Find and use a sound bite from the Internet
Everything should be set to run automatically (no mouse clicking at all)
Setup to turn-on as soon as it is opened (I will show you this)
A title page containing: the name of the Rhyme and who is responsible for creating the rhyme (who wrote it (if you can find that on the Internet – Bonus if you do) and who prepared the
PowerPoint Project [your name])
Bibliography slide containing: siting all resources you use to create this project. Site website of web pages you visited and took information from (where you got the words to the rhyme), books used, and etc. (Must use www.noodletools.com in order to format your bibliographies correctly – you can copy and paste the information from the site, but you have to know the information to create the bibliography first.) Example of a bibliography of a web page:

CARTOON POWERPOINT REQUIREMENTS: (make sure you complete all requirements)

* Create a folder in your server, title folder --> Cartoon PowerPoint
* Save PowerPoint presentation in your server as--> YourName-Cartoon
* Due by the end of the period on Friday, March 28
* Must be at lease 50 slides long – bonus points for additional slides
* Must have at least one sound or song (sounds that come from Microsoft Office are just fine; but if you download a song from the Internet or from an IPod etc. You must place that song in the Cartoon PowerPoint folder
* Must have a Title slide with: the Name of your Cartoon and By: Your Name
* Must have a The End Slide
* Must have NO transitions, must be set at between 00:00.1, 00:00.2 (whatever timing works best for your presentation
* Save the FINAL PROJECT as a .PPS file (so it will start playing automatically its own)

If you get finished with your cartoon early, come see so I discuss with you next weeks PowerPoint assignment so you can star brainstorming.

Make sure you are saving everything in to your folder that we created together in your server. It should be titled --> yourfirstname - nameofstate - yourclassperiod
You will be turning in this whole folder on Friday, so make sure EVERYTHING YOU SAVED FROM THE INTERNET, PLUS YOUR POWERPOINT PROJECT IS IN THIS FOLDER.
EVERYONE, should have their Part I complete and you should be working on Part II/III. Part II/III is a 2 sided handout. Make sure you read both sides and include everything you are supposed to include.
If you have not started on your PowerPoint project (Part II/Part III), you are going to need to work very quickly, since projects are due Thursday.

The Candy Cane Story

A candymaker in Indiana wanted to make a candy that would remind people of the true meaning of Christmas; so he made the candy cane to incorporate several symbols for the birth, ministry, and death of Jesus Christ. He began with a stick of pure white, hard candy. White to symbolize the Virgin Birth and the sinless nature of Jesus, and hard to symbolize the Solid Rock, the foundation of the Church, and the firmness of the promises of God.

The candymaker then shaped his cane into the form of a "J" to represent the precious name of Jesus, who came to the earth as Savior. It could also represent the staff of the "Good Shepherd" with which He reaches down to to reclaim the fallen lambs who, like sheep, have gone astray.

Thinking that the candy was somewhat plain, the candymaker stained it with red stripes. He used three small stripes to show the stripes of the scourging Jesus received. The large red stripe was for the blood shed by Christ on the cross so that we could have the promise of eternal life.

Alignment

Border

Character Style

Font

Font Style

Footer

Formatting
Formatting means changing the way a document looks without changing the information within the document.

Header
A header is a line of text that appears at the top of each page in a document.

Indent
The amount of space between a paragraph and the right or left margin is called an indent.

Line spacing
Line spacing is the amount of vertical space between the lines within a paragraph.

Page break
A page break is a marker that indicates the end of the current page and the start of a new one.

Paragraph
A paragraph is any text that is followed by a paragraph mark.

Paragraph spacing
When you reset the amount of spacing before and after a paragraph you are changing the paragraph spacing.

Paragraph style
Paragraph styles can be applied to one or more entire paragraphs.

Point
Paragraph spacing is measured in points. One point equals 1/72 inch.

Shading
Shading appears as a gray or colored background behind the paragraph.

Style
A style is a named set of formatting characteristics. Using styles lets you format individual characters or entire paragraphs with just a few mouse clicks. Styles help you give a consistent look to different parts of a document.

Tab
A tab is an amount of space by which text is indented from the left margin. You can use tabs to align text in various ways. For example, if you place a tab stop one-half inch from the left margin and then press the Tab key, your text will be aligned at that point.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: As Managing Editor, one of your responsibilities is to screen applicants for jobs in the Editorial Department. Your goal is to choose the best applicant for the position of Research Editor.
